Ubisoft to Announce Nintendo Switch 2 Version of The Crew Motorfest
Ubisoft is reportedly preparing to reveal a Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Crew Motorfest, which will include a physical release on a Game-Key Card.
Release Date and Pricing
According to the reliable source billbil_kun on Dealabs, the open-world racer's Nintendo Switch 2 edition is slated for release on October 8. It is expected to be priced at $49.99 / £44.99 / €44.99.
Physical Release on Game-Key Card
One factor that may help keep the cost relatively low is the use of Nintendo's Game-Key Card cartridge. This is a more affordable physical alternative, offering collectors something tangible in the game box while still requiring a full game download.
A Three-Year-Old Title
By the time The Crew Motorfest lands on Nintendo Switch 2, the game will already be three years old. Originally launched in September 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, the Hawaii-set racer received mostly positive reviews upon release.
Timing and Market Context
The timing of this port could be ideal for Nintendo fans. With no news on Forza Horizon 6 coming to Switch 2—or even a release date for PlayStation 5—The Crew Motorfest might fill a void for players seeking an alternative to Mario Kart World. Ubisoft is expected to make an official announcement about the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game soon, with more details forthcoming, according to Dealabs.
Critical Reception
IGN's review of The Crew Motorfest highlighted both its strengths and weaknesses. "The Crew Motorfest is a robust racer with a confident sense of style, but its smaller map lacks life, its multiplayer isn't really worth the wait, and its omnipresent microtransaction opportunities are still tedious," IGN wrote in its review, which awarded the game a score of 7/10.
