The Crew 2 Offline Mode Is Planned for Late 2025
Ubisoft Ivory Tower has revealed additional details about the upcoming offline mode for The Crew 2. A new Hybrid mode will help the developer further refine the offline experience ahead of its planned release later this year.
Ubisoft’s Offline Mode Plans
Last year, Ubisoft angered fans of the 2014 racing game The Crew by taking its servers offline and rendering the game unplayable. Although players are suing Ubisoft over the decision, The Crew remains unavailable. Ubisoft is now developing offline mode updates for the series’ other games, The Crew 2 and The Crew: Motorfest, and shared further details in a new video released on April 24.
The Crew 2 Hybrid Mode
The update primarily focuses on The Crew 2, which will be the first game to receive an offline mode. Before its release, Ubisoft will introduce a Hybrid mode that allows players to switch between online and offline play.
Producer Gregory Corgie explained that this hybrid approach, combined with player testing through the Insider Program, will enable Ubisoft Ivory Tower to “refine and balance the content” before a wider release at the end of 2025.
The Crew: Motorfest Support
Regarding The Crew: Motorfest, Corgie clarified that the studio is prioritizing the development of a functional offline mode for The Crew 2. In the meantime, Motorfest players can expect live-service support “for years to come.”
Testing and Supported Platforms
Testing for The Crew 2’s Hybrid and offline modes will begin on PC before eventually expanding to the game’s PS4 and Xbox One versions.
