Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak Are Available at Their Lowest Price Ever
I’m a devoted fan of Monster Hunter World, and I thoroughly enjoyed Wilds, but Monster Hunter Rise holds a special place in my monster-hunting, endlessly grinding heart. Its faster pace makes every hunt feel slightly more chaotic but considerably more fun, while the excellent Sunbreak DLC expands the roster of hunts with even more challenging elements. If you haven’t given it a chance, now is the ideal time: Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak are available at their lowest price ever.
One of the Best Action RPGs
Discussions about the best RPGs usually feature familiar names: Skyrim, perhaps Fallout, Persona, and Final Fantasy VII. However, the Monster Hunter series is often excluded because of its focus on action, and I believe that is a mistake. Monster Hunter Rise is one of the genre’s best games, and even if you have never played another entry in this long-running franchise, it is an excellent starting point.
Faster, More Chaotic Hunts
While Monster Hunter World emphasizes the length of each hunt, requiring careful analysis and time spent searching for clues, Rise launches you almost immediately into the action. Each monster inhabits its own small ecosystem, where creatures from other hunts often appear and add to the chaos. The resulting territorial battles can make your life either easier or harder.
Weapons That Reward Experimentation
Every weapon adds another layer of strategy to each hunt, from the raw power of the Great Sword and the agility and buffs of the Insect Glaive to the versatility of the Switch Axe, my personal favorite. Rise does not punish you for experimenting with different equipment, particularly early in the game, allowing you to discover which weapon best suits your playstyle. I typically favor more agile weapons, but the balanced and damage-focused options are equally compelling.
A Game Worth Returning To
Having owned three copies of the game—first on Switch at launch, followed by PC and later PS5—I can confidently say that it still excites me. Although I have played the newer entry, Wilds, Monster Hunter Rise is the game I return to most frequently, often fitting in a few hunts before finishing for the evening. Nothing is more satisfying than executing the perfect hunt.
An Exceptional Deal
If you have been waiting to buy the game, it is now 86% off. The full game and its Sunbreak expansion are available together for just $8.39 / £6.99 at Fanatical. As someone who purchased it three times at nearly full price, I can say this is an excellent deal that should not be missed. You are effectively getting more than 100 hours of content for a fraction of the usual price.
