FromSoftware's Sekiro Gets an Anime Adaptation

FromSoftware's Sekiro is making a return — but not in the form of a sequel. Instead, the critically acclaimed game will be adapted into an anime titled Sekiro: No Defeat, set to premiere on Crunchyroll in 2026.

Background on Sekiro and Its Success

Published by Activision in 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice received widespread critical and commercial acclaim, selling an impressive 10 million copies. Despite its success, no sequel has been announced. FromSoftware has since released Elden Ring, which achieved even greater commercial success.

Anime Announcement Details

The announcement of Sekiro: No Defeat was made by Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH. According to the studios, the new anime "channels the precision and spirit of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice into every frame." This fully hand-drawn adaptation will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll, with regional exclusions for Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus.

Crafted with reverence for the original, Sekiro: No Defeat is an adaptation of the game’s unforgettable story — a tale of loyalty and blood, set in a fantastical reimagining of Sengoku-era Japan.
