ElevenLabs Introduces Music v2: A Game-Changing Music-Generation Model
Voice AI company ElevenLabs has released a new iteration of its music-generation model, called Music v2, featuring the innovative capability to switch genres seamlessly mid-track. According to ElevenLabs, the model is engineered to master both sophisticated vocal performances and complex compositions. This launch comes nearly 10 months after the debut of the initial version of their music-generation model.
Dynamic Genre Transitions and Advanced Customization
ElevenLabs emphasized that Music v2 can effortlessly transition between genres, such as shifting from opera to heavy metal and back. It can also deliver rapid rap verses while maintaining clarity and integrate non-musical sound effects into compositions. The model allows creators to isolate and rework specific sections of a song using prompts without modifying other segments of the track.
Constructing Songs Section by Section
Unlike earlier models that primarily generated brief clips, Music v2 empowers creators to assemble full-length tracks by building distinct sections—like intros, verses, and choruses—and combining them seamlessly. The company also mentioned that the model excels across various languages, lyrical content, vocal styles, and musical arrangements.
Rising Competition in AI Music Creation
In recent months, multiple AI labs have been vying to launch professional-grade music-generation models. Companies such as Google, Stability AI, and Suno have introduced models capable of producing longer, more intricate musical pieces. At the Google I/O developer conference, Google revealed new features for its Flow Music tool, enabling users to effortlessly create covers, edit songs section by section, and produce music videos.
Licensed Data and Commercial Viability
ElevenLabs stressed that Music v2 is developed using licensed data and fully cleared for commercial applications. This ensures that users can leverage the generated tracks without any legal complications. Securing licensing agreements with record labels is a key focus, particularly as some other AI music startups, including Suno and Udio, have encountered legal disputes over copyright matters.
Availability and Integration
The new model is accessible via ElevenLabs’ ElevenCreative tool, designed for marketing and branding professionals, as well as the newly launched ElevenMusic platform for creating AI-powered songs. Additionally, the model is expected to be supported on the ElevenAPI in the near future.
